The Essex County Countryside Alliance (ECCA) and the Tappahannock Art Guild (TAG) are cohosting a two day Plein Air Paint Out event in Essex County and the Town of Tappahannock, Virginia, Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12, 2018. The event is limited to 40 artists with a registration fee of $40.00. Artists can bring a spouse or guest for an additional $40.00. Registration will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, and it will close at 5:00 PM, Thursday October 4, 2018 or after the first 40 artists have registered.
Participating artist-sign in will be at the TAG Gallery on 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock from 8:30 AM till 4:00 PM both days. There will be a very casual get together late Thursday afternoon – 5:00 PM – also at the TAG Gallery. There will also be water, coffee and breakfast pastries Thursday and Friday mornings at 8:30 at the TAG Gallery as well.
All wet paint works to be exhibited are to be framed and tagged with the artist name, medium, and the price. Commission on the sale of art will be 30%. The artists will receive 70% of the sale price. The Gallery will have the tags.
All art work not sold will be removed at the end of the exhibit that evening, or they can remain until noon the following day, Saturday, October 13.
The Paint Out will culminate with an art exhibit with drinks and dinner at 6:00 Friday evening that will be open to the general public by the sale of tickets. Artists are to have their wet paint framed painting(s) hung by 5:30 at the “Barn.” The art exhibit with drinks and dinner will be at the Rose Hill Farm Barn at 1001 Yorkers Swamp Road, in southern Essex County. Ticket sales to the general public (non ECCA members and nonparticipating artists) will be $50.00 per person, and must be purchased by October 4, 2018 as well.
