Workshop 9:30 to 4, Saturday Mar 17 – Landscape Painting Workshop

In this introduction we will examine the various aspects of landscape painting including skies, land, and water. We will practice planning and executing landscape paintings from photographs using composition, a value plan, a color plan, initial block-in, shadows, mid-tones, highlights, and accents. We will study aerial perspective, contrast, form and brushstroke.
One hour opening lecture – overview of landscape painting methods and styles. Instructor demo on a painting study – one hour. Coffee break and student studio setup, then hands on painting for the rest of the day. By the end of the day you will have a color study completed ready to execute a large painting. We will end with a 15min. group critique, Q&A session.
1 day workshop – limit 12 students. Morning session 9:30AM-Noon / Lunch break 45min. / Afternoon session 12:45PM – 4PM
