Come paint the beautiful Tidelands Region around Tappahannock, Virginia – The Gateway to the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck of Virginia, along the tidal Rappahannock River.
The Plein Air event will begin with a warmup day for painting and a possible workshop, as well as an evening reception on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. The actual event painting days will be Thursday, April 2, through Saturday afternoon, April 4. However, warmup paintings are acceptable for the Saturday exhibition.
Coffee, fruit, and baked goods will be provided Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 – 9:30 AM, at the Tappahannock Art Gallery.
There will be a picnic late Friday afternoon for artists, sponsors, patrons and hosts.
Framed wet paintings will be hung for viewing and artists’ choice award by 5:00 pm, Saturday evening, April 4. Following the installation and artist choice, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM, there will be a ticketed closed gallery preview of the framed “wet paintings” for those purchasing tickets, and for sponsors, patrons and hosts. The gallery will be open to the general public from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Artists can gather their unsold paintings and other possessions following the public exhibit Saturday evening or between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Sunday.
The event will host 40 artists, with a registration fee of $50.00. Online registration opens at 1:00 PM January 3, 2020, and closes after the first 40 registrations have been received.
Host housing is being arranged, as available, for those who live 30 miles or further from Tappahannock and who request such housing in their registration form. Special rates are being arranged at local bed and breakfasts and motels.
