Tidelands Plein Air Tappahannock (Oct 13-16)
Registration opens online July 30 at 1:00 PM to the first 40 applicants.
Registration is $50.
The Tappahannock Art Gallery and Guild (TAG) invites you to come paint our beautiful creeks, marshes, Rappahannock River, farms and the quaint town of Tappahannock in Essex County, Virginia.
This is not a juried event. There is no competition. We want you to have a fun, stress free opportunity to paint our beautiful local scenery.
You will be greeted at the Tappahannock Art Gallery on Wednesday afternoon for a Welcoming Reception and pick up information you may need. We do not mark your canvases.
You may paint Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and your framed paintings must be hung by 5:00 pm Saturday.
We will have the gallery open from 8-10 every morning in case you need directions or just a donut and a cup of coffee.
Friday night we will have a free picnic supper for you on the river.
Saturday evening, your wet paint exhibition will be in conjunction with our annual Fall Fundraiser Saturday October 16 at 5:30 at the Rose Hill Barn. The public is invited to this ticketed event to view and purchase your art of our local scenes, and enjoy bluegrass music, supper, drinks and good company. To the public this event is $50/person in advance or $65 at the door. To you it is free. If you have a spouse or significant other accompany you, we ask that they pay $25 at the door to help defray our costs. Your first drink ticket is free as will be water, tea and sodas.
Tappahannock offers a Holiday Inn Express and the historic Essex Inn B&B and other hotel/motels are available. If you would like me to arrange host housing, please indicate that on your registration. Some are still concerned about the virus, but I will try to see if I can find cottages (with heat!) some of you might share, and homes that would welcome you. I’m assuming you would require it for four nights, Wed-Sat.
Many of you know or have met George Jennings at other plein air events. He is our resident expert in all things plein air. However, George is recovering from surgery, so though his telephone number was included in our plein air advertisement in the Plein Air Magazine (pages UG 36 & 37), for now please address your questions to TAG instead at email@example.com.
We are excited about this event and hope to see many returning and new artists. It’s wonderful to be open again.
