In this series of oil paintings created over several years, Linda Shields explores the many layers of river life. During summers and weekends at her family’s Dunnsville cottage, this SMS graduate has captured the colors and shapes of the Rappahannock and its crossings, discovering metaphors for life’s twists and turns around every bend. A graduate of JMU’s art program at Shrinemont, she has won numerous awards for her oil and encaustic paintings. Solo shows include Elon University, Virginia Beach Library, Chester Library, and Trinity Episcopal School.
The show runs June 3-July 24, opening reception Saturday, June 4.
